Why Kitefish a Color Change

A color change indicates where two bodies of water mix—typically, colder, cloudier inshore waters meet clearer, warmer offshore waters.

This interface often attracts seaweed and bait, creating a perfect highway for predator fish like sailfish, dolphin, tuna, and cobia, which can be found on either side of the color change. Kite fishing is an excellent method for presenting baits along this edge, as it allows you to lift and drop your baits to shake off any seaweed that may cling to your hook.

Additionally, spreading baits on both sides of the weed line and color change is easy to manage. A color change marks an oasis in what is otherwise open water.
